FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•DNC moving forward with Biden virtual nomination; voting to begin no sooner than August 1English1·1 year agoVoter wishes? We had a primary. Voters chose Biden.
If you trust Nate Silver and George Clooney over the Democratic party itself, you do you…
FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•DNC moving forward with Biden virtual nomination; voting to begin no sooner than August 1English41·1 year agoTry to keep up. I am telling you what the literal chair of the DNC said.
FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•DNC moving forward with Biden virtual nomination; voting to begin no sooner than August 1English62·1 year agoAgain, the governor signed a law moving the deadline from Aug 7 to Aug 31. But the Ohio constitution says this law cannot take effect until September 1.
So Trump lawyers can argue that the law doesn’t do anything at all, and on Aug 19 (when the Democratic convention starts) the deadline is still Aug 7.
FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•DNC moving forward with Biden virtual nomination; voting to begin no sooner than August 1English42·1 year agoNo, there isn’t time to nominate if the Trump campaign challenges the nomination after the deadline.
Lawyers and generals don’t interrupt opponents who are making mistakes.
FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•DNC moving forward with Biden virtual nomination; voting to begin no sooner than August 1English133·1 year agoOhio passed a law moving the deadline from Aug 7 to Aug 31, but technically that law does not take effect until Sep 1.
No law passed by the general assembly shall go into effect until ninety days after it shall have been filed by the governor in the office of the secretary of state
So the reason to do a virtual roll call is to prevent legal shenanigans from the Trump campaign.

FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•In first interview as VP candidate, JD Vance explains why he called Trump 'America's Hitler'English41·1 year agoDid you also misremember my post? I didn’t say Kamala thinks Biden said racist things, and she didn’t say that either.
Anyway, you might think that statement makes Biden a racist, and that’s your prerogative. But Kamala does not have to agree with you.
Maybe she thinks it was a hurtful thing to say but that’s not enough to make Biden a racist. Maybe she thinks it doesn’t reflect who Biden is today. There are countless other possible explanations for her position, and ultimately she doesn’t need you to tell her what she thinks.
FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•In first interview as VP candidate, JD Vance explains why he called Trump 'America's Hitler'English41·1 year agoShe thinks Biden said ~~hurtful~ racist things in the past but she doesn’t think he is racist.
Bruh, my post is right above yours. Everyone can see you intentionally misquoted me. And intentionally misquoted Kamala.
“I don’t want my kids to grow up in a racial jungle”.
Why do you keep making up quotes? Is it because you think your version sounds worse than the actual quote or is it because you haven’t bothered to find the actual quote?
It doesn’t get much more racist
You might think so, but this is not about whether you think he’s racist. The question is what Kamala thinks, and she already said she doesn’t agree with you.
FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•In first interview as VP candidate, JD Vance explains why he called Trump 'America's Hitler'English51·1 year agoJust following the logic of “If Kamala doesn’t confirm my bias, she must be lying.”
And her statement is not “self-contradictory”. She thinks Biden said hurtful things in the past but she doesn’t think he is racist.
Frankly that could apply to a lot of white people. So if you don’t understand how she can truthfully say those things, that’s on you.
FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•In first interview as VP candidate, JD Vance explains why he called Trump 'America's Hitler'English61·1 year agoshe just said the first part
That’s certainly one interpretation, especially if you want to put words into people’s mouths to fit your narrative.
Here’s another interpretation: when Kamala said that she doesn’t believe Biden is racist, it meant that she doesn’t believe Biden is racist.
FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•In first interview as VP candidate, JD Vance explains why he called Trump 'America's Hitler'English121·1 year agoshe just said “I’m not calling you a racist, but”
She didn’t say that, either.
What she actually said was “I do not believe you are a racist, and I agree with you when you commit yourself to the importance of finding common ground.”
FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•In first interview as VP candidate, JD Vance explains why he called Trump 'America's Hitler'English461·1 year agoThe difference is that Kamala never called Biden a racist.

Step one to building a coalition is to find someone you don’t agree with 100%.

West is on the ballot in OR, AK, CO, VT, and SC
If you are in the battleground states of WI, PA, GA, NV, NC, or AZ then neither one is an option.
FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•After Biden's debate performance, new national NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds the presidential race is unchangedEnglish23·1 year agoYes, and I also saw that the top 3rd party choices in the poll are not on the ballot in most battleground states.
So most people who chose 3rd party in the poll will end up voting for someone else.
So that poll is useless.
FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•After Biden's debate performance, new national NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds the presidential race is unchangedEnglish24·1 year agoI understand that your preferred poll includes candidates who most people can’t vote for.
If I saw a poll where the choices were Biden, Trump, and Taylor Swift then I wouldn’t pay any attention to that one either. You probably would, though, if it was bad for Biden.
FlowVoid@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•After Biden's debate performance, new national NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds the presidential race is unchangedEnglish34·1 year agoI only care about the head to head numbers because the alternative includes candidates who most people can’t vote for.
