    Wacky sitcom shenanigans are a given :p

    I once moved into an apartment with three other gay furries (one being an old friend), and another joined us shortly after. Two bedroom, one bath, and 5 furs. Playing reverse jenga with the trash can (whoever tips it, takes it out) and occasionally walking around nude were just par for the course. Using paper towels as emergency tp, and hearing the couple who were the actual renters getting frisky in the shower, were less common but not unexpected. And I ordered pizza so often that we got on a first-name basis with the delivery guy. Getting naughty with the friend was nice, too, when my bf wasn’t visiting (we were open).

    Oh, and it was my first time living through a proper winter. Waking up to see my friend had left the window open, and the world a textureless white, was a nightly thing. I’m too cold, he’s too hot, screams. I ended up running stress tests on my computer to generate heat, and we settled on a mostly-closed window policy.

    Life now is mundane by comparison. Though I’m in a master/pet relationship with the friend, he’s got a bf, and there’s been talk of moving in together, so… History kinda repeats itself? I’m okay with pizza-box trash jenga and being nude again. :P

    You get me $10B annually or so, and then we can start to talk. Your single-fiber line and homelab will handle, what, 25 simultaneous users? Just have to scale that to a billion daily users or so, no bigger.

    Also yt is “super critical”? Super critical is power for ICU wards and stuff, nobody is going to have a heart failure because they can’t get their daily dose of #shorts. Also gestures at Wikipedia, who is glaring at you.

    I think you’re giving yt way, way too much credit, but simultaneously thinking that any one of us has the financial capability to not only have but risk that kind of cash. Companies have tried and failed. Users aren’t doing it, chief.

    That was my previous game drive, and I had a small ssd (I think 256GB).

    E: to clarify, I went from sata to nvme, and the sata ssd is now in another machine. The drive that came out of that machine is 480GB and is now powering a Debian 12 server.

    For my main machine: Sys, 1TB. Games, 4TB (actually 2x 2TB in raid0). Backups and misc: 10TB. Daily backups, g/f/s for sys, and incremental daily with monthly full for games.

    Then I have all my media and actual files on a nas, along with the desktop, documents, downloads synced between all machines; any files that are for storage and drive images (for machines with only 1 drive and cannot manage images locally) get stored here too. 2x 10TB.

    Then those drives are in raid1, are under btrfs with snapshot abilities, are backed up to a 8TB external every month, and unplugged after a successful backup to avoid a ransomware attack scenario. This drive is actively cooled to prevent overheating with hours of read/write activity. Every night, critical files are also backed up to two different off-site data storage services, on different continents.

    I got tired of data loss 15 years ago, and now I horde everything, but it’s all for a purpose. Game saves, stories, photos, archived projects long forgotten, and so much more.
